temperatures are in and we are 27 now in santa rosa so black ice is a possibility. there is fog and visibility down to half a mile. 30 in fair feed and concord. those are the other freezing spots. 41 in antioch and 48 in san francisco and 43 in novato. we have temperatures in the upper 30's and upper 40's from monterey bay at 47. and gilroy flirting with frost at 33. more warming in the afternoon hours. we also still have poor air quality. rough surf of the enjoy the 60's and sunshine at the beaches. the next rain may not be until next month. all models are very dry through the beginning of february. today is the 18th. so that is a couple of weeks. napa, four degrees warmer and 63 and redwood city is 64 and san jose is 5 and extra were is 63. livermore, 63. oakland, 65, seven degrees warmer-than-average. and 65 in santa rosa and san jose the warmest weather, fremont, the warmest at 66 and fairfield is coolest at 60. upper 60's in the monterey bay to upper 60's to low 70's inland. tonight there is a a chance of scattered frost and mid-30's to around the low 40s. a sneaker wave tonight through t

cold tomorrow. 27 in santa rosa. 30 in napa. 29 in concord and livermore. san jose, 36 degrees. tomorrow again we are expecting another warm day. not as warm as today. a lot of that heating has spread across the area. temperatures tomorrow more uniform across the board. 64 in santa rosa. 64 in livermore. 63 in san francisco. not as wa the mavericks in town for tomorrow. that's when we expect some of the highest surf across the area. the first round begins at 8:00. you can catch this on nbcbayarea.com. we will be streaming it all day long. the temperatures comfortable, but not as warm as it was today. 67 for the high temperature tomorrow at half moon bay. as far as your seven-day forecast, the warm weather will stick around for the next couple of days. you'll notice by tuesday, a few clouds drift in. that's going to cool us a bit. the system scoots to our north on wednesday. that will offer a few showers if you live in the north bay, otherwise not a big storm system in the next seven days. there will be a cut-off low that drifts across the pacific over wednesday, thursday, frida

57 off that high of 60. oakland you're at 61. the warmest spot san francisco at 62. santa rosa 57 degrees. it will be chilly tonight. concord down to 33. santa rosa 31. napa 32. get used to that lows around freezing watch out for that black ice especially around 7:00 or 8:00 in the morning. radar clear once again. we are dry in santa rosa. look at the difference from year to year. you had a foot of rainfall in december. now as we start off 2013, one half of one inch of rain for january that's about it. there's a big reason for it. it is that big dome of high pressure sitting over the west coast shoving that storm track north of the canadian border. that's where they are going to see rain in british columbia. nowhere close to the bay area. so the storm track stays there. and the center of high pressure stays here. here being right over top of the bay area which means we'll level off in the low to mid-60s for highs. couple of degrees milder tomorrow compared to today and that's where we are going to stay through tuesday of next week. so watch

rosa, you'll have frost on that front lawn. contrast that with san francisco, 53 degrees in the city, oakland 48. a lot of you went outside tonight, peek up at the moon and saw something next to it. that was jupiter. from our perspective making its closest pass to the moon between now and the year 2026. a man you enjoyed that earlier today -- maybe you enjoyed that earlier today. lows tonight right around freezing for concord and livermore, fairfield 30, santa rosa 31, oakland and san francisco likely in the 40s. another chilly night. cloud cover is about to increase. some of the high thin cirrus clouds are working their way through, but there's a mass of clouds off to the west. it's going to wait until late tomorrow, but the clouds are coming and showers as well. high pressure hangs on one more day. as high pressure takes off we get a southerly flow. tomorrow will be the warmest day of this mild stretch, but then high pressure moves out. the low moves in and here comes the rain, scattered showers in the forecast wednesday. so we are

in san francisco but 37 in livermore and santa rosa. in the middle we find oakland at 49. concord, 39. and san jose, currently 42. rough surf at the coast. watch out for that all weekend long. some isolated spots may get up to 20 feet. watch out for those waves and a high risk of rip currents. bottom line, swim with caution all weekend long. our hi-def doppler is showing dry conditions for the eighth straight day. it's been very dry. january, only a quarter of an inch of rainfall for concord. in december, you had 5 inches of rain. this month we have a big ridge of high pressure. it's not moving, so the forecast isn't going to change for the upcoming holiday weekend. the high pressure center is just off to our west. that means sunshine, dry, mild through the holiday weekend. tuesday as well. pattern is going to change earlier than we thought, though. there will be a weak front moving through, giving us showers on wednesday. so cooler, cloudier, chance of rain next week. but your hoistled is going to be -- your holiday is going to be great. w

in santa rosa and half mile visibility and black ice could be building on the bridges. be careful up there. mid-50's to low 60's under sunshine but, remember, it is a "spare the air" day. sue? >> one stall on the bay bridge for 30 minutes. the upper deck is jammed. the stall is gone. but you will find yourself in sluggish traffic with metering lights turned on at 5:45, very early for the bay bridge. the backup is through the macarthur maze. the drive from antioch, very slow, typical, and you move to pittsburg it picks up. from the central valley you have a grind from 205 and over the altamont pass and then it eases up in the dublin/pleasanton. we look at the drive time, carquinez bridge to the maze is 20 minutes. the backup is bay bridge to san francisco under 20 minutes and the san mateo bridge is looking good at 13 minutes. that is typical from hayward to foster city. kristen and eric? >> new this morning, the heat was too much to handle for tennis fans watching the australian open. several people watching the double match passed out in the stands today in melbourne. they had to be escor

of the temperatures. 28 novato, 27 santa rosa. i saw a lot of 30s and even 40s in marin county, some of the higher elevation, woodacre, 45. mill valley, 43. half moon bay, 46. but not far away i've seen 50. san jose, 34. hayward says a little bit of patchy fog and 36 degrees. offshore breeze mainly, oakland has one and one at half moon bay. inland, it's still going to stay in the 50s. some of that fog makes it tough along with the east breeze. there's a 12-degree difference between plan hill and vallejo at the same time. it gives you an idea of what's going on. 50s for some. low 60s for others. 60 novato. and then 54 antioch to 62 oakland. alameda, 60. but livermore, 55. 63 balmy degrees, milpitas, santa clara, 60. half moon bay, daly city, same think. it will be close for menlo park and redwood city and san francisco. not much of a change. but other than that, it's a dry forecast. >>> there's shock and confusion this morning at notre dame. a football star bound for the nfl says he was duped by an elaborate hoax. mike tobin is live at the fox news bureau in chicago. it's about a made-up girlfriend

rosa, it's 54 in mount a diablo -- mt. diablo. i warming -- a warming pattern continue, especially coast and bay. it's a dry forecast until maybe wednesday. not everybody is on board with that. one forecast is. patchy fog. other than that, it will be hazy, sun, mild to warm. i think on the weekend it looks really quiet until early next. some areas have a tough time warming up past the upper 50s. that would be fairfield, clearlake, 65. novato, st. helena, 59 antioch and brentwood. pittsburg, 61. 68 gilroy. 65 at half moon bay. flies on the coast in san francisco -- nice on the coast in san francisco. menlo park, mountain view at 64. it looks good all the way in the weekend. we'll continue that -- we'll continue that tuesday. >>> a spare the air alert is in effect for the bay area. that means wood fires are illegal in fireplaces, stoves or outer to fire pits. if you are caught violating the ban you are required to take a class or pay a fine. a second violation is a $500 ticket. sonoma county leads the bay area in complaints. there were 110 wood-burning violations in sonoma county las

degrees in santa rosa. you may find fog up there this morning as well. visibility at three miles or better across the board. we'll let you know if that changes. throughout the day today, hopefully you have the day off so you can get out there and enjoy. beach conditions are perfect for this time of year. we're still in the heart of winter but we'll hit the 70s as the storm track stays to our north. we'll see stronger onshore flow and drizzle but today and tomorrow look good for upper 60s. hazy. air quality has improved dramatically overnight. as we wake up tomorrow morning, we'll see fog and drizzle. future cast actually agrees with me. you can see low clouds coming with the storm system starting to approach the coastline. as we get into wednesday, that weak disturbance might bring us some light showers but i want to show you where we are. where we stand right now in terms of our percentage of normal precipitation. we're above average because of the very wet december that we had with very little rainfall coming through over the whole month of january so far it's been really dry. we'll get
